
About Paul
Paul Goeglein, a native of Alexandria, Virginia, USA, is an active performer and teacher in Toronto and the Great Lakes Region. A sought-after freelancer, he has performed as Guest Principal Oboe with the Hamilton and Ontario Philharmonics, Assistant Principal and English Horn with the Toledo Symphony, and has additionally appeared with Symphony Nova Scotia, London Symphonia, Esprit Orchestra, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.

After earning a Bachelor’s of Music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of Linda Strommen, Paul moved to Toronto in 2020 to study at the Glenn Gould School and the University of Toronto. There, he completed an Artist Diploma and Masters Degree respectively, under TSO Principal Sarah Jeffrey, graduating in 2024.
An advocate of new and underperformed music, as well as Canadian composers, Paul has programmed solo and chamber works by Ian Cusson, Alyssa Morris, Gary Kulesha, William Grant Still, and Jennifer Higdon. He has performed in Toronto’s 21C Festival, and has been a part of numerous North American and World premieres. He attended the Miami Classical Music Festival as an Opera Fellow where he performed in classical and contemporary opera productions, including those by composers Osvaldo Golijov, Nico Muhly, and John Corigliano. Paul has recorded a solo short-film soundtrack for Emmy-Nominated director Joseph Karakora, and has participated in numerous orchestral and choral recording projects in the Greater Toronto Area. As a soloist, he has had the privilege of performing with the Oakville Chamber and Casa Loma Symphony Orchestras.
Paul lives in Toronto’s West End with his one-eared orange cat, Louie. He enjoys evenings at his reed desk, long hikes in Southern Ontario, and cooking new recipes for friends.
